Have you taken a look at the new application made available for Mac and Linux? It is the Boxee which can also be termed as an “open source effort”. It simply means that the addition of plug-ins can be carried out by anyone other than the developers. Presently, you can find it to be in the private alpha stage and any alpha member can easily get the best of it.

Even though Boxee has been announced to be much similar to FrontRow, there is one difference between the two giving the former more importance. It is nothing other than the option of choosing between the accounts. Even if you have a single account, you are welcomed with a display where the selection can be easily made. Selecting the account you wish is an easy task and this can be done with a mouse, keyboard or even with a remote. Here, what makes it different is that apart from briefing out the media you want to access, it speaks out about the “friend activity” and also the “recommendations” you are into.

On the whole, Boxee can be termed to be an awesome application and a perfect entertainment system. Even though made available to Mac and Linux, you can get into boxee.tv to sign up for the private beta.
